This has divided opinion in the studio today – http://mattt.github.com/Chroma-Hash/
Personally, I think it’s a really interesting idea. At first glance,it won’t make much sense but have a look here for a more detailed description and a lively debate.

Password fields are a funny beast. They’ve been around forever and are obviously invaluable, but an input field that doesn’t show you what’s been typed is counter-intuitive and a recipe for errors and frustration for the user. “ERROR: Incorrect password. Lost your password?” Admit it, it’d be nice to see those words a bit less in your day-to-day.
By hashing your input and giving immediate visual feedback Chroma-Hash might just make life on the web that little bit easier. As with any innovations, this needs to be in wider use before it becomes second nature, and even then it may not appeal to everyone’s way of thinking, but it’s nice to see people still looking a the little details that we so often take for granted.
